Double Glazed Front Doors
Several Reasons Why You Should Consider Buying Double Glazed Front Doors
In countries where we find cold and wet winters, one should strongly consider having double glazed front doors installed in homes. When a heating system is used in a home, half of the heating escapes through a front door and by means of this installation, less heat will escape from the house.
There are commonly three kinds of doors to choose from. One being a PVC door, wooden doors and the last one being a GRP door. This stands for glass fiber reinforced plastic. It is usually better looking, but it is very similar to the PVC doors. Wooden doors require continuous maintenance and it is not ranked high in insulation performance. In most cases, PVC doors are used as they are lower in price and found to be most economical.
The doors usually have a decorated centre that is usually made of glass. The glass is either patterned or clear. They are also weather proofed so that the glass design is easy to clean and that the thermal value is kept solid and of course to ensure it is a secure door.
As for wooden doors, they are made from oak and pine wood. They make use of current trends when designing the finishes and if the door space is wide, they even offer side lights that are attached to the entire door frame. Good quality wood doors usually age well and it is known to have a warm look due to its texture.
It should be noted that in most cases, the double glazing is done on the window or glass part of the door. Therefore most doors will have a glass fixture attached to it.
The life expectancy of double glazed front doors can be anything from ten years to twenty five years depending on the manufacturers and how the door is treated throughout this time period.
